A uniquely beautiful wedding in Suffolk

Unique wedding ceremony

What constitutes a uniquely beautiful wedding ceremony?

Uniquely beautiful wedding ceremonies, are created for couples who wish to have full control over the content of their cherished ceremonies. Their ceremony will be built around them and their love story; a ceremony which can take place anywhere – in a stunning venue (or other location) of their choice, led by a celebrant who will make sure it’s an occasion that they, and their guests, will remember forever! We are very well served, here in Suffolk, with many stunning locations ready to host these fantastic ceremonies.

This wonderful couple, Sue and Dave, had a beautiful wedding ceremony that was fully bespoke and completely unique to them.

The day of the ceremony takes shape

Sue and Dave chose to legalise their marriage at the local registry office earlier that day with many of their friends and family surrounding them.  In addition to that, they decided that they also wanted to have a much more personalised, unique ceremony with all of their guests in attendance afterwards.  This ceremony would be full of wonderful symbolic elements, diverse readings providing both fun and more poignant moments in equal measure, and bespoke, meaningful vows that highlighted their love for one another beautifully.

What was their story?

Sue and Dave had married one another before, many years ago, but separated and divorced, each going their separate ways.  Time brings change however and, realising that they were better together than they ever were apart, they reconnected and began a second phase of their lives together several years later.

After their legal ceremony at the local registry office was complete, the happy couple and their guests walked the short distance to The One Bull pub in Bury St Edmunds. There they had a drink, a chat and relaxed into their day with family and friends surrounding them.

The second part of the day gets underway.

During this time, another short distance away, the planners at The Bury St Edmunds and Farmers Club in Suffolk were readying themselves for the arrival of the wedding party. The next stage of the festivities could begin!

Sue, Dave, their family and their guests arrived and, as they were enjoying a glass of chilled champagne, they completed cards which were collected in a Box of Wishes for the couple to keep forever.  Guests wrote down their wishes for the couple’s future, anecdotes about the couple, or precious memories they had shared together.  Unbeknown to the guests, some of these wishes would be used later that day during the ceremony!

At 4pm the guests moved upstairs to the ceremony room and took their seats.  The music began and, for the second time that day, the couple walked down the aisle, this time holding the hands of their two beautiful granddaughters.

A hugely emotional and uniquely beautiful wedding ceremony!

The difference between a celebrant led ceremony and a registry office ceremony is in the level of personalisation the couple can add to their ceremony.  Sue and Dave chose a reading from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin and a fantastic poem, Love Me When I’m Old, by Bee Rawlinson. These were read by treasured guests and enjoyed by the listening congregation who could see the relevance of both to the couple’s story.

Their unique love story

After the readings, the couple’s own love story took centre stage.  This was a fully personalised and unique retelling which highlighted the elements of their lives that were so important to them.  Family was at the top of that list, the joy they both have in being together, travelling and having their good friends around them.

Fully personalised vows

As with all wedding ceremonies, the vows came next but, unlike many other ceremonies, the vows were written specifically for the couple!  They spoke to each other straight from the heart.  At such a personal moment, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room as every guest witnessed the couple’s love for one another which, by this stage, had spanned nearly 40 years.

To highlight the joy of their vows even further, Sue and Dave had chosen to add a wine blending ceremony to that stage in the proceedings.  They are geat lovers of a glass of red wine and this was a fitting tribute to that shared passion. At points during their vows, they each poured a measure of their chosen wine into a decanter and, as their vows were completed, they took a sip of their blended wine. Their gathered guests joined in afterwards with a rousing ‘cheers!’   (There was also a lot of mirth and merriment here as the guests tried to find out if the blended wine was good enough to have its own vintage after all!!!)

The Box of Wishes ceremony!

As the ceremony drew to a close, there was some more audience participation to come when the Box of Wishes from earlier made a new appearance and some of those wishes, anecdotes and memories were read out.  Again, there were poignant moments here as precious times were recounted and wonderful wishes expressed but, there were also moments of great fun too as the guests revelled in the chance to express their wishes for the happy couple and their lives together.

As the ceremony ended, and Sue and Dave walked back up the aisle ready to enjoy the rest of their day with their guests, they reflected on the comments made by those around them about the happy occasion it had been.  It had all been such great fun, it was hugely emotional too and the start of the next chapter of their lives together.

It was a pleasure and a privilege to be a part of such a special day! A uniquely beautiful wedding that took place in the heart of our gorgeous county of Suffolk
