Your Suffolk Celebrant

An experienced professional celebrant

I'm Susan, I'm an independent celebrant based in Suffolk, UK. I create personalised wedding ceremonies, funerals, memorial services, naming ceremonies and vow renewals for couples and families across Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire, London and beyond.

A first-class experience!

One of the things I enjoy most about being a celebrant is the opportunity to spend time getting to know people properly. Every ceremony starts with a conversation. I learn about the people involved, the things that are most important to them and how they would like their ceremony to feel. From there, we build a ceremony that truly reflects them and the occasion they are marking.

For couples planning a wedding, this means far more flexibility and choice than a traditional registrar-led ceremony. Couples have the freedom to include the elements that matter most, leaving out the things that don't, creating a ceremony that feels like a genuine part of the day rather than just the formal part before the celebrations begin.

I don't simply arrive on the day and conduct a ceremony; I work with my clients throughout the planning process, helping them create something that feels right for them from beginning to end.

I work closely with my couples throughout the months leading up to their wedding. By the time the day arrives, they know exactly what to expect and they feel confident that they are standing in front of someone who understands them and who can tell their story impeccably.

Before becoming a celebrant, I spent many years working in education, leadership and management. Those experiences taught me the value of listening carefully and communicating clearly, helping people feel comfortable and supported. They also gave me a real appreciation for the importance of preparation and attention to detail - it matters so much that we get things right!

Whether I am working with a couple planning their wedding or a family arranging a funeral, my approach is always the same. I take the time to understand what matters most to the people involved and then create a ceremony that reflects that with warmth, professionalism and care.

Choosing a celebrant is a personal decision. You're inviting someone into an important moment in your life, so it's important to find someone who feels like the right fit for you. That's why I'm always happy to have an informal conversation before you make any decisions.

Although I am based in Suffolk, I regularly work throughout East Anglia and London and I am always happy to discuss ceremonies further afield.

If you are considering a celebrant-led ceremony and would like to understand more about the options available to you, I would be delighted to have a conversation with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a celebrant and a registrar?

A registrar is responsible for completing the legal requirements of a marriage in England and Wales and must work within a prescribed format. A celebrant-led ceremony gives you much greater freedom and flexibility.

As a celebrant, I work with you to create a ceremony that reflects your relationship, personalities and values. You can choose your own wording, include family members and friends, incorporate meaningful rituals, and hold your ceremony in a location that is special to you.

Many couples choose to complete the legal paperwork separately and then enjoy a celebrant-led ceremony that feels entirely their own.

Where do you work?

I am based in Suffolk in the UK and I regularly conduct ceremonies across the rest of East Anglia including Norfolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire. I am also happy to travel further afield and to London.

What types of ceremonies do you offer?

I create and conduct wedding ceremonies, funeral and memorial services, celebration of life ceremonies, naming ceremonies and vow renewals.

How involved are you in the planning process?

I work closely with my clients throughout the months leading up to their ceremony. We discuss ideas, structure, readings, personal stories and any special elements you would like to include. My role is to guide you through the process and help create a ceremony that feels right for you.

Can we include personal touches in our ceremony?

Absolutely. One of the benefits of choosing a celebrant-led ceremony is the freedom to make it personal. Whether that involves family traditions, symbolic rituals, music, readings or contributions from loved ones, we can create a ceremony that reflects what matters most to you.
