A Cliveden House Wedding: A Beautifully Personal Ceremony
Celebrant led wedding
Some wedding venues are extraordinary, and Cliveden House in Berkshire is undoubtedly one of them. Steeped in history, surrounded by magnificent gardens and renowned for its timeless elegance, it’s a wonderful setting for a truly memorable wedding.
But however spectacular the surroundings, I always believe that the heart of a wedding day is the ceremony itself.
And for Georgina and Kerem, whose beautiful black-tie wedding I had the pleasure of conducting at Cliveden House in August of 2026, creating a ceremony that felt completely right for them was especially important.
Their wedding was elegant, sophisticated and wonderfully understated. But what made it particularly memorable for me wasn’t simply the magnificent setting. It was seeing a shy, but happy couple, smile and genuinely enjoy the occasion.
That’s what a truly bespoke wedding ceremony should achieve.
From New York to Cliveden House

Georgina and Kerem arranged to marry legally at a New York courthouse, but they wanted to save their main wedding celebration for England, bringing together all of their family and friends at a venue that was so important to them.
With its fascinating history, magnificent architecture and beautiful surroundings, Cliveden House, near Windsor, was a wonderful choice.
What they needed was a ceremony that would feel personal and meaningful, while striking just the right balance between their contemporary wishes and family traditions whilst staying true to themselves.
They began exploring their options online, discovered the possibility of having a celebrant-led wedding ceremony and I was delighted when they chose me to create and conduct their ceremony for them.
Planning a Wedding in England from Overseas

Planning a wedding from another country brings its own challenges, particularly when you’re coordinating everything across different time zones.
But distance needn’t make planning your ceremony complicated.
Georgina and Kerem and I first met virtually, and over the following months we worked together to create a ceremony that reflected their personalities, relationship and wishes.
My starting point was my detailed couple’s questionnaire, which helped me understand their story and what mattered most to them.
I then wrote an initial ceremony script, and together we spent several weeks refining it until every element felt just right.
There was no pressure to include anything they didn’t want, and no expectation that their ceremony should follow a particular formula.
It was a collaborative process, with plenty of opportunity to discuss ideas, make adjustments and ensure they felt confident about every aspect.
Georgina’s review captured something that matters enormously to me:
“She made the time difference a non-issue and completely understood what we needed.”
For couples planning a destination wedding in England, having someone they can trust to guide them through the ceremony arrangements is invaluable.
I want every couple I work with to feel supported, listened to and reassured throughout the planning process. From our first conversation to the wedding day itself, they should know that this important part of their celebration is in safe hands.
Creating a Ceremony That Respects Different Cultures and Generations

One of the particularly lovely aspects of Georgina and Kerem’s wedding was the coming together of their British, Turkish and American families and friends.
They wanted a non-religious ceremony that felt contemporary and personal, whilst respecting the expectations of their family members too.
It’s a balance that requires thought and sensitivity.
A wedding celebrant can help couples bring together different backgrounds, beliefs and family traditions without creating a ceremony that feels uncomfortable or inauthentic.
For Georgina and Kerem, it was about finding the right words and the right tone, making everyone feel included while ensuring the ceremony remained unmistakably theirs.
A Personal Wedding Ceremony Doesn’t Have to Reveal Everything

One of the most important things I learned about Georgina and Kerem was that they were naturally shy and rather private.
Not every detail needed to be shared, nor did they want to feel uncomfortable being the centre of attention.
And that’s something I completely understood.
There’s sometimes a misconception that a personalised wedding ceremony must involve sharing every detail of a couple’s love story, with lots of anecdotes and emotional revelations.
But that simply isn’t the case.
Some couples love laughter, storytelling and a little theatre. Others prefer something quieter, more reflective and understated.
The skill lies in understanding the difference and creating a ceremony that feels entirely natural for the people at its heart.
Georgina had been very open with me about feeling anxious at the prospect of standing in front of their guests.
So, we talked about how we could structure the ceremony to make her feel more comfortable. We made some thoughtful adjustments, ensuring nothing would feel overwhelming or unnecessarily daunting.
I wanted both Georgina and Kerem to enjoy their ceremony, rather than simply feel relieved when it was over.
An Elegant August Wedding on the Terrace at Cliveden House

When I finally met Georgina and Kerem in person at their wedding rehearsal, after months of virtual conversations, it was wonderful to bring everything we’d planned together into the actual ceremony setting.
And what a setting it was!
Their wedding took place on the magnificent terrace at Cliveden House, on a gorgeous, breezy, August day.
The flowers were sumptuous yet understated, beautifully complementing the surroundings. A string quartet played, adding another layer of elegance to the occasion.
Everything was stylish, sophisticated and beautifully considered.
But amid all that grandeur, what mattered most to me was that the ceremony remained completely focused on Georgina and Kerem.
And one of the loveliest moments for me was seeing them both visibly relax as the ceremony unfolded.
Knowing how anxious Georgina had initially felt, watching her smiling and enjoying herself was especially rewarding.
She later wrote:
“As we embarked down the aisle, I wasn’t nervous at all and it truly shaped the rest of the day for me.”
Those words meant so much because nothing matters more than seeing a couple genuinely happy and comfortable during their own wedding ceremony.
For me, that’s when all those months of preparation really come into their own.
A Last-Minute Change That Created a Very Special Moment
Another lovely aspect of Georgina and Kerem’s wedding was their decision to exchange their personal vows privately.
This was something they requested very close to the wedding day.
Of course, plans can change; my role is to listen, offer reassurance and find a way to make those wishes work.
So we adapted the ceremony, and I printed their vows for them to share privately later in the day.
Georgina described it beautifully:
“It gave my husband and I a beautiful moment together later in the day.“
I think this illustrates something particularly important about working with an experienced celebrant.
It’s not simply about writing a beautiful script. It’s about being flexible, responsive and understanding what a couple needs, even when those needs change.
Sometimes the smallest adjustments can make the greatest difference.
Why the Right Celebrant Makes Such a Difference to Your Wedding Day

When couples choose a prestigious wedding venue such as Cliveden House, they naturally invest enormous thought into every aspect of their day.
The setting, flowers, music, food and guest experience are all carefully considered.
I believe the wedding ceremony deserves exactly the same attention.
A luxury wedding ceremony isn’t necessarily one that is grand or elaborate.
For me, true luxury is found in the detail.
It’s having someone take the time to understand you, listen carefully and create something that won’t be replicated for anyone else.
It’s knowing that your celebrant will respond promptly, work collaboratively with your other wedding professionals, and take care of the practicalities as well as the words.
It’s feeling reassured that someone experienced is looking after you, anticipating concerns and quietly ensuring everything runs as smoothly as possible.
And, perhaps most importantly, it’s being able to relax and enjoy the occasion, knowing that your ceremony has been created with genuine care; planning your ceremony should be an enjoyable and meaningful part of your wedding preparations.
A Ceremony to Remember

Georgina and Kerem’s wedding was a wonderful reminder that a ceremony doesn’t have to be extravagant to be extraordinary.
Their celebration had all the elegance you’d expect from a black-tie wedding at Cliveden House. But the ceremony itself was quietly romantic, sincere and deeply personal.
And although they didn’t want an overly emotional or theatrical ceremony, it nonetheless touched the hearts of those present.
The words had captured the essence of Georgina and Kerem’s relationship in a way that felt natural to them, while allowing their guests to share in something truly meaningful.
It was their ceremony, their way.
And that’s what I strive to create for every couple I work with.
